If you want to grow your audience on Instagram, creating quality content that engages current and potential followers is a MUST! But how can you ensure that what you’re posting is going to engage these followers and help you to grow as an influencer or business on Instagram? Well, the following 5 tips can help you make the best out of your Instagram feed so that you can not only grow your followers, but also increase their engagement and loyalty!

1. Aesthetics

Choose an aesthetic and stick to it. A great way to do this is simply by looking at other accounts for inspiration. You can start this by looking at other accounts for inspiration and choosing your favourite. Is it minimal, colourful, grungy, pastel or boho? One of the easiest ways to keep it consistent is by using the same filters and adjustments.

VSCO Cam

A fantastic app to use is VSCO cam. You can choose from a range of different filters and make adjustments by playing with the brightness, contrast, grain and more. Once you’re done, you can save your “recipe” so that you can re-apply it to your other posts.

Although it can be tough to be consistent, picking a particular aesthetic or theme will have a significant impact on your Instagram success as an influencer, because it will engage your audience and keep them on your feed longer.

2. Content Balance

Another important aspect is content balance. Regardless of the editing style that you use, it’s essential that you create a balance on your feed. This will ensure that it doesn’t look too busy or cluttered, which can give off a “messy” vibe. A simple way of doing this is by placing clean or minimal photos between the “busier” looking photos to break things up and create a content balance.

3. Plan ahead

Once you have decided on your aesthetic theme and are identifying how your photos will fit into your content balance, the next step is to plan your content layout in advance. Planning ahead can make being an Instagram Influencer significantly more manageable.

UNUM

To visualise how your feed will look in advance, a great app to use is UNUM. This tool allows you to plan out your Instagram feed by adding photos using the “Instagram Grid” and rearranging them to see what your future posts will look like. You can integrate your Instagram account to see what your future posts would look like with your existing feed. You can also temporarily hide your existing posts to see what your feed would look like without them.

4. Post regularly to keep followers engaged

To keep your followers engaged, and attract new followers, you must post content on a regular basis. However, you don’t want to over-do it by posting 5-10 photos every day. Posting once per day, or even every other day, is often enough to maintain engagement with your followers.

5. Choose brand partnerships that fit

Brand partnerships are not only a source of income for aspiring Instagram influencers and brands, but they’re also a significant source of exposure.

When considering brand partnerships you should always consider how you, your content and your followers align with the partnership and if it will be a good fit. If they aren’t the right match, it’s okay to say no. Remember: you are in control of your personal brand and how you appear to your audience.

Also, don’t be afraid to reach out to a brand that you love and you think your audience will love too. Create a professional brand pitch and convince them why you would be a great fit for their brand.
